At Betabrand, we’ve always believed our fans are the heart of the brand. They inspire our designs, shape our community, and bring their bold personalities to everything we do. One of those fans is Crystal Hendricks—an Air Force veteran, associate broker with Coldwell Banker, and proud member of our “Behind the Seam” Facebook group. She even helped spark the now-famous #BetaBabe meetups.
We sat down with Crystal to learn more about her journey, her favorite Betabrand styles, and why the community means so much to her.

The Interview
Q: Crystal, you’ve had quite a journey—from serving in the Air Force to becoming a real estate broker. Can you share a little about your background?
A: I grew up in a small town in Kansas, then joined the Air Force right out of high school, inspired by my brother who served after 9/11. After my enlistment, I dabbled in accounting jobs while moving around with my husband, who was still active duty. Fashion? Let’s just say I was clueless—six years in uniforms will do that to you. That’s when I stumbled across Betabrand, and it changed everything.
Q: How did you discover Betabrand, and what was your first purchase?
A: I was at work, scrolling online (whoops!), and an ad popped up. My first pair was the classic black Dress Pant Yoga Pants in straight leg. I was hooked immediately—the comfort and the fit were like nothing else.
Q: What keeps you coming back?
A: Comfort, hands down. These clothes fit my curvy frame without feeling stiff or fussy. They’re effortlessly chic and make me feel put together without trying too hard.
Q: What are your all-time favorite Betabrand pieces?
A: I’m a classic girl—straightlegs, skinnies, solid colors. I also love the AirFlex collection (seriously, the most comfortable set known to mankind). And don’t get me started on the wide-leg denim—it’s a game-changer.
Q: Do you have a special “Betabrand moment”?
A: Honestly, my favorite part hasn’t just been the clothes—it’s the friendships I’ve made. Betabrand brought me some of the most supportive, funny, and authentic people I know. That’s priceless.
Q: You’re a leader in the “Behind the Seams” community. What makes it special?
A: It’s like an interactive Pinterest board mixed with a support group. People swap styling advice, share wins, and just lift each other up. Plus, the #BetaBabe meetups have created lifelong friendships—I’ve traveled, volunteered, and even road-tripped with women I met through this group.
Q: As an Air Force veteran, do you see any parallels between your service and the Betabrand culture?
A: Absolutely. Veterans often look for a sense of community after leaving the military, and I found that with Betabrand. The camaraderie is real.
Q: If Betabrand were a person, how would you describe them?
A: Fearless, bold, spunky, and unapologetically themselves. Basically, a fellow Capricorn.
Q: What’s your message to someone considering their first pair of Betabrand pants?
A: Pull the trigger—you won’t regret it. And then join the community. The clothes are amazing, but the people make it unforgettable.
