New bags, a jacket sale, a jacket tease, & the best jobs ever
As part of Betabrand’s 4-star commitment to conservation, we periodically release limited batches of ingenious items made from leftover fabric.
Like waxcloth. Our designers recently uncovered a forgotten cache of this wonderful material and quickly thought up a couple of nifty product ideas.
How about a waxy cloak to cover the entire city of Seattle? We thought residents would really enjoy their first moisture-wicked February. Regrettably, our supercomputer calculated that this would subject the Emerald City to conditions resembling a nuclear winter — eventually creating a frigid apocalyptic wasteland where humanoids battled giant naked mole rats for leftover coffee grounds.* This, of course, would not be in the spirit of Betabrand’s commitment to conservation.* If anyone reading this works in the video game industry would like to collaborate on this concept, please contact us immediately.
So instead, we decided to release another batch of our popular belted laptop sleeves, made from waterproof waxcloth. And we’re including a bonus for the non-crafty: starter straps.
What makes our belted laptop bag so special?
Now there’s a way to use the belts you never wear: web them together to form the frame and shoulder strap of this black waxcloth laptop sleeve. Our strap-it-yourself bag comes with room for a laptop plus a couple of pockets large enough to hold things like iPhones or delicious warm pretzels. It also comes with a price of just $55.
We encourage you to marry different belts to create unique bags –and then send us photos. Need some inspiration? Any thrift store will yield a bounty of funny belts for a few bucks a pop.
To celebrate the release of these bags, we’re selling off the remainder of our awesome wax jackets for a steal. Few remain, so get while the gettin’s good.
Coming next week (AND ONLY AVAILABLE FOR ONE WEEK!)
Betabrand’s brewing up a batch of ultra-limited edition reversible smoking jackets. Here’s a sneak peek. They’ll only be available for one week, so stay alert.
