An interview with Emily Halpern, Betabrand Model, Writer, and Co-Creator Trophy Wife.
Tell us about yourself. Who are you? What about your career are you most proud of so far?
I’m a TV/Screenwriter originally from Boston, MA.
When did you first know you were funny? Can you recall the moment and how it made you feel? Why did you choose to pursue comedy as your career?
I’d always loved writing. I had the chance to write comedy in college and enjoyed it, and found that I liked hanging around with other comedy writers. It felt like a good fit.
What is your greatest daily challenge? Reward?
In theory, it’s trying to stay present and engaged in every moment. In actuality, it’s trying to convince my puppy to go pee before I leave for work.
What advice would you give to anyone seeking to find their own path — career, or otherwise?
I think that finding success in the entertainment industry is often some combination of talent and serendipity. So my advice would be to just stick with it.
What are you passionate about outside of comedy? What do you do on your free time?
I love music. I play guitar and have recently begun writing songs. I also love reading. And sleeping. Don’t get me wrong – I’m very cool and go to a lot of parties. But in order of what I like to do most it’s probably 1) Music, 2) Reading, 3) Sleeping, 4) Parties.
Tell us how you really feel about Rubber Chickens.
How I really feel about rubber chickens? Was I previously misleading about my feelings on rubber chickens?
