Tell me about yourself, Bryce. What do you do on the daily? What are you passionate about?
My name is Bryce and I am an audio engineer who loves just about everything. I am really passionate about technology so at a fairly young age I started working in the tech booth at my church. I loved every second of it then and I still do now. Some of my hobbies include hanging out with friends and family, hammocking/slack lining, and taking pictures. I also enjoy a good cup of coffee, meeting new people, and listening to some good tunes.
Tell me about your project “@BryceAndHammy”
I started the Instagram account @BryceAndHammy back in May of 2013. One of my best friends, Ryan and I decided one day to get some hammocks. So we drove to the nearest REI to pick them up and Ryan jokingly suggested I make an Instagram account for me and my hammock. As strange as I thought it was, I was going to be traveling that summer so I decided it would be cool way to document my adventures. Since then I never stopped sharing places I set up my hammock. Now @BryceAndHammy is more than just documenting my adventures with a hammock, it is a way to connect with other adventurers and hammock-lovers. The best part is getting to interact with people who come across my photos. I hope to one day meet as many of them as I can!
What drives your photography? What do you like most about it?
The thing that drives my photography most is everyday life, and the beauty that can be seen in the simple things. I love photography because of the community like atmosphere that it brings. Being able to share what you see with your own artistic style with others is something of its own. I love using photography to tell a story. Especially a story that not many people get the chance to learn.
What drew you to the Disco Hammock? How are you enjoying it?
When I first heard about the Disco Hammock I knew that it could bring a great story. It was something that would not only be cool to own but a unique object to tell a story. I would love to tell you what that story is, but I am still living it. I absolutely love the Disco Hammock, not for the sole reason of it being a hammock but because it is something different that stands out. It is also a great conversation starter!
In your own words, what does it mean to be a Model Citizen?
I think that being a Model Citizen is simply just being yourself.
What’s your next big project?
My next big project is a trip to Uganda, Africa. I will be going there to take photos and do some filming for my church. We are partnering with a non-profit organization called Village of Hope. Village of Hope is an organization that aids and gives hope to orphans that were effected by the civil war that has been happening in Uganda for over 20 years. If you would like to follow me on that trip, find me on social media!
