In today’s newsletter: Two brand new Bike to Work designs, and greedy, shameless Ben Franklin.
We recently began working on a super-limited-edition series of Bike to Work Pants inspired by independent, community-minded bike shops around the country. For our second effort, we teamed up with some locals: San Francisco’s Huckleberry Bicycles. (Here’s our first pair of Bike-Shop BTWs.)
Why Huckleberry? These guys appreciate cyclist-friendly fashion that isn’t necessarily just for biking. And their shop colors (gray and purple) look pretty cool on our pants. Also, they were located nearby.
Like all our Bike to Work Pants, new Huckleberries sport a secret inner brilliance: cuffs that roll up to reveal super-bright reflective material, plus an equally blinding pullout that deploys from a rear pocket.
The result: radical reflectivity that lets drivers and pedestrians know you mean business. Speaking of business, Huckleberries are our most office-appropriate Bike to Work Pants ever! They feature a slimmer fit, slash pockets, and even sport a purple paisley tie-cloth liner — it’s sort of like wearing your tie around your waist, but without the disparaging comments from coworkers.
We also added cyclist-friendly features like a reinforced crotch, zippered rear pocket, raised back cut for crack coverage, and a slight stretchiness in the fabric. Add it all up, and you get a two-wheeled commute that’s safe and comfy, not to mention pretty darn stylish.
We made just a very small batch of Huckleberry Bike to Work Pants, so order your pair today. And if light gray isn’t your thing, check out our new Sage Bike to Work Pants: same design and motorist-blinding reflectivity, minus the signature bike-shop patch.
Flag Day Sale
As every schoolchild knows, Flag Day celebrates America’s crass commercialization of Old Glory, a rich tradition dating back to the late 1770s, when Ben Franklin successfully persuaded Betsy Ross to help him market a line of star-spangled grog-bottle koozies.
In the spirit of the holiday, we’re offering 17.76% discounts on Betabrand’s most patriotic products, now through Thursday (June 14). What a great excuse to try out for the 2012 Olympic Pantathalon in a pair of USA Pants:
Or start training for the Miss America Pageant in a USA Skirt:
Or make your next bald-eagle barbecue even more patriotic in a Caperon:
Remember, this sale ends tomorrow!
