Recently, security and surveillance expert Stephen Russell approached Betabrand with a bold fashion proposal: develop underwear that subtly distorts the shapes that appear in airport body scanners. Imagine a garment that can fuzz out a weary traveler’s privates just enough to let him or her retain meager shreds of dignity — without interfering with airport security!
Betabrand has accepted this noble challenge. And now, dear friends, we need your help.
Over the past couple of months, Betabrand has enlisted 50 intrepid travelers to test-pilot prototypes of our Privates as part of our Privates Alpha Group. This elite, high-flying force of underwear enthusiasts has taken to the skies, exposing our sample patterns and styles to body scanners around the world.
Once all of our Alpha test pilots return to base and report on their travels, we’ll get started on a full production run, available to all.
You should be able to find them on the site at the beginning of May, 2011. To be the first to know when they’re available, be sure to sign up
