Convertible Rain Poncho

I hate carrying an umbrella or a bulky rain coat around. I wanted to come up with a lightweight poncho that you can throw on over top of your clothes or, when not in use, easily fold up and stash in your work bag, purse or your backpack at a festival.

We played around with lots of different ideas including printing in white on the inside of a translucent fabric so that the colors of your clothing underneath would make the graphic pop. We also looked into using sail cloth, but it ultimately proved to be cost prohibitive. Our latest thinking has been to use color-blocking in geometric designs. Ultimately I think this poncho could be sold as a unisex product that comes in a few flavors.
